Selfless vs Self seeking

Selfless is defined as someone who puts the needs of others before themselves. The Bible defines this as someone who does not do anything out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. (Philippians 2:3-4)

Self seeking is defined as someone who puts their own interests before others. The Bible defines this as someone who’s heart has selfish ambitions. (James 3:14-16)

Not only that but warns that where there is self ambition there is every EVIL PRACTICE.

Matthew 6:1-4 advises us to be careful not to practice our righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Do not announce it with trumpets to be honored by others. It should be done in SECRET.

Not letting your right hand know what your left is doing emphasizes on secrecy and humility.

Selfless people do not need or care to be recognized for their deeds, because they know their reward is in heaven.

Self seeking people need to announce and share these things for approval of men, praise and validation.

Although it can be hard to discern between the two, there is a great deception at work, just think of it this way. If someone is telling you about their good deeds, all the ministries they have served in, all the ways they have helped others, that is a clear indicator of who they serve.

Selfless people will not share this about themselves nor do they desire too, their actions or deeds are shared by others.

If this hits a nerve or brings conviction, repent. The heart was supposed to be transformed, not disguised. That motive comes from a place where every evil practice comes from and that’s not a heart that can truly do His will, nor desires to do it, because your operating in your own and robbing God of His glory. That’s deception at its core and not anything to play with.
