Day 7 – Walk by Faith

The Bible says that faith comes by hearing & hearing by the word of Christ.

As I reflected on what it means to walk by faith, I started to feel burdened because I know that His message is being preached.

I mean with technology, there are podcasts, social media posts, books, blogs & every form that His message can be put out, has been. Yet still they don’t hear & they still don’t see.

I asked the Holy Spirit for understanding, and it was like His Spirit said that “without Him, they can’t” I reflected on that and thought, I am aware that it’s because they don’t believe, but His word says that faith comes by hearing? Yet we say, and they still don’t hear.

Then as I dug into His word and read over multiple scriptures regarding faith, I realized that faith is not talking about believing without proof like those who try to say faith is, right? Just believe you are saved and you are…but instead like how it describes in James 2:24 that we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.

Faith is not believing without proof, that because His Holy Spirit is proof of our salvation.

You know what does not require faith? Things that can be proven.

It does not require faith to believe that scripture has been proven to accurately account for history. Not only of the world, but the accuracy of the Bible. Theres’s evidence to prove it.

It does not require faith to believe that there was a man named Jesus who was crucified. There’s evidence to prove His resurrection.

It does not require faith to believe in the Holy Spirit. There is inward evidence (to the believer) as well as outward evidence (for the non-believer) that proves that the Spirit of God is real.

It does not require faith to believe in the Triune God of proven and historically accurate scripture. There is evidence to account for the Father, Son & Holy Spirit as well as proof that they are three separate persons but equal in being.

That’s because it does not require faith to believe in something that there is proof of, only humility.

So, why is evidence or proof not enough?

Because people can’t have faith without His Holy Spirit or have the faith that is required to please God. Hebrew 11:6. They can’t comprehend their sin, because a man’s soul does not understand things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor does he have the ability to comprehend because they are unable to examine or judge spiritually. 1 Corin 2:14.

It’s the Spirit himself [that] testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:16.

Faith without proof is dead. Meaning faith without the evidence of the Holy Spirit is like a body without the spirit, it is dead. James 2:26.

It’s not that you can’t hear someone say “you are a sinner” it’s that you can’t comprehend that you are. It’s not that you can’t hear that Jesus paid the price for all sin, its that you can’t comprehend that there is a price for sin. It’s not that you can’t hear that “all sin separates you from God” its that you can’t comprehend that you are separated from Him already. Why? Because without the Holy Spirit testifying to that, it’s impossible.

You can’t comprehend the Good News in the same way that those can’t comprehend that you can’t preach His message without God sending you to do it.

Does that mean that you are without hope? No. But hope is only found in Jesus Christ. There isn’t more that I can say to you that you have not already heard. It’s those who diligently seek Him that get rewarded. It’s only those who ask that have. It’s only those who are not in Christ Jesus who are condemned. It’s only those who have accepted His gift of salvation that receive His promise. It’s only those who call on the name of Jesus that are saved. It’s only those who repent and turn away from sin that are truly forgiven.

So, how can one walk by faith if they are not sure that they are even in the faith? You can’t. You need to be in the faith to walk by it.

If you are seeking proof, just ask yourself if any of this is foolishness to you, if so, that’s all the proof you need to know that you are not. Faith is not needed for that which can be proven, only humility. Because it’s not a lack of faith that defiles us, it’s pride. In the same way you can’t be saved without accepting Jesus Christ.

Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God. John 8:47.
