Fellowship is important, but I’d go even further by saying WHO you fellowship with is more so.
If you are a believer, your circle should be filled with other believers who encourage you, hold you accountable & enrich your life. If they don’t, then those are not your friends, those are your cellmates. Because real friends want to see you walk in freedom, not keep you imprisoned.
The Bible asks us a very simple question, it asks us, what does light have in common with darkness?
Nothing.
It’s simple though, if you are a believer, then you are the light of this world, and fellowship with you should only bring light (truth). That’s it.
I used to think that I was just socially awkward (which resulted in me having LITERALLY 3 friends) but over time I realized that I’m just highly selective. Don’t get me wrong, I am weird & awkward, but I care more about the spiritual side of relationships rather than the quantity of them.
My circle are women who display fruits of the spirit. Women who don’t play about our Father’s business & always seek the Lord. They are strong in specific areas, but never shy away from their weaknesses. And as the word says, fellowship with them is like iron sharpening iron. I always feel refreshed & stronger after, but most importantly, they never let me lose sight of the goal. Which is to win these souls for Christ.
Fellowship strengthens the body (His church) & strengthens His community. Jesus saw boat loads of people during His ministry on earth, but His circle was 12 people deep. His circle was small but because of the fellowship they had with Jesus, they changed the world. So, who you hangout with matters & a lot is riding on you choosing correctly.
So, to my circle (Dora, Denise & Hilary) thank you for your friendship, support, encouragement, accountability & prayers. I’m a stronger person today because of each one of you.
