Greater is He….

This morning I read chapter  40 of Isaiah. What i received from the chapter is what can really be compared to the Lord? Our whole lives we were taught to worry about ourselves. “Follow your heart.” “Do what is best for you.” “Think about yourself first.”And we all believed that the earth revolved around us. That our life is short so we should do whatever it is that we want. The more I know who God is, the more I realize that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

I love this chapter because it puts in perspective of how great and mighty the Lord is. It says that he held the oceans in his hands and measured the heavens with his fingers. It also says that the people (us) are like the grass, that will surely fade and wither underneath him. Most would take that as though our lives are not important, but i take it as that’s how much greater the Lord is than me. I read that he sits above the circle of the earth and the people are like grasshoppers to him. Not only does he know every name of every star he ever created but counts them to make sure that none are missing. The nations are nothing compared to Him, they are just a drop in the bucket; dust on a scale. That’s how much more greater is He than us. It’s hard to wrap your mind around it. How mighty He is, and we might not ever be able to. But we should at the least know that He is more than us. The verse that really made me think was Isaiah 40:25 “To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the holy one.

If Jesus was standing in front of you and asks you that, would you say “me.” Would you even have an answer? Trying to unlearn everything the world has taught us is difficult, but the same one who can count the stars and name them can surely help us. So to all the ones who take the time to read my posts, I hope that you recognize how much we need God. Not only when things are bad, but all the time. Our life is not here to live how we wish. We are called to do greater things than we could ever imagine. Not for us though, but for Him. The one who put us here. We have to stop seeing ourselves as the main focus because its never been about us. I hope that before I leave this world that I actually do what he has put me here to do. Thank God for this day that he has allowed us to have. Gracious is He who loves us. May the Lord be with us always.
