I don’t know if you have ever felt how it feels to drown, but there is nothing quite as terrifying. Your completely submerged under water. The more you fight to get up, the more energy you waste and the more tired you get. All you want is air to breathe. All you want is to live.
To drown spiritually is kind of the same. You are completely submerged by your past. The more you fight to live right the more energy it takes and the more tired you get. All you want is to live right. All you want is to be the person God said you are. But how? Who is going to come and risk their own life, to save yours? Who’s going to give you that life line…that air that you desperately need to breathe?
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.” Psalms 34:19
Jesus is your life line. The one who risked his life for yours. Though you might drown from time to time, you can trust that the lord will bring you through. You may stumble, but He will not allow you to fall. When people drown, all they can focus on is how they will get out, or IF they ever will. They hardly ever think of who will come and help. They believe that they are the only way they will make it out. But anyone that has drowned before knows that they are only able to get out when someone else steps in to offer help. Jesus wants to help. That’s why he gave his life up. So that you can get out. So that you can live. Why would he help us? Because He loves you. He will not let you drown.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
